Job Description:

This is a thirty-four-hour per week position. Work hours for this position are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Must be willing to use own transportation to run errands.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the executive director and in accordance with established policies and procedures this position provides administrative and secretarial support for the Center. The administrative assistant is responsible for office operations, including but not limited to typing, filing, scheduling, financial record keeping, coordination of meetings and events, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, working on special projects, as well as the maintenance of an electronic database and website. Deals with a diverse group of external callers and visitors. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a varied workload, and recommend changes in office practices or procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; and/or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to operate business office equipment and demonstrated competence in computer programs.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word processing software, and QuickBooks software.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or ability required. · Work requires knowledge of business and an excellent command of the English language.
· Must have knowledge of secretarial, office administrative procedures, and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through 1+ years related experience.
· Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software, and QuickBooks.
· Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
· Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
· Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
